Re: Lake Whatcom + Lake Samish

One thing I didn't see posted, is they do want to expand this to all water craft including canoes and kayaks. Even the boats that never leave the lake have to pay for inspections. Also do they have the power to do this to Baker Lake ?? Isn't Baker Federal water ?? It is located in Federal land. Well...

Re: We knew it was coming, Washington State lead ban for fis

I'm pretty sure that they're all snowed in at the moment, I sent mine just a few days ago as soon as this thread started. It was the first I'd heard of it. I doubt they'll get back to us at all, we'll just have to wait until they ignore us and make it law. Well there is still time for anyone that h...

Re: We knew it was coming, Washington State lead ban for fis

Remember that lead is cheap but brass requires machine work. All other heavy metals require super high heat and are very costly. Is it the intent only the rich be able to afford TACKLE ? It might be going that way anyways :thumbdown Lead is cheap and plentiful. Tungsten is pricey, , I understand it...

Re: We knew it was coming, Washington State lead ban for fis

Lead riffle bullets are not allowed in any area the Condor may be encountered. That would be most of the state. No science backed that up either. If your friends are using bullets with lead cores then it is just a matter of time. Well after reading about it, it is lead hunting ammo that is banned, ...

Re: We knew it was coming, Washington State lead ban for fis

So, will it be legal?. Well in mind yes, how are they going to know which type of brass I have. You are focused on Steelhead, and they are great fish. Still, what about weighted swim bait hooks, etc. That so many of us use. Well I don't think the companys will just give up, they will most likely us...

Re: We knew it was coming, Washington State lead ban for fis

I would like to see those. A source would be important to prove you are for real. Brass is so much lighter then lead, your 1/32 oz must be the size of a 3/8 oz lead jig. Lead has a density of 11340 kg/m3, brass has a varible density of 8400 - 8730 kg/m3, so the size doesn't have to be that much more.

They are also using a basic "Art of War" tactic of "Divide then conquer". Targeting just "sports" or recreational fishermen. Ensuring commercial fishing interests don't enter the battle, openly excluding ammunition so they don't butt heads with the NRA either. Until later that is! I won't worry abo...

Anglinarcher wrote:I have never seen a jig molded of anything but lead. You could mold tin, but the size is much larger. So, how many of you use jigs for perch or bass or steel head?

.

There is more then lead available. Most all my jigs are brass head, I have 1/32nd to 1/4. I have tungsten for my shot.
