I picked up a mini UV Flashlight (similar to this) a few years ago to test jig colors under UV. It works just as well to charge glow-stuff.

Re: Pink Salmon taste
IMO Pinks taste more like trout than salmon anyway. What they lack in taste they make up in soaking up whatever you cook em with. I smoke 99% of mine but will eat one once in awhile - when I do it is loaded with other goodies to flavor it. Examples: * Marinade in white wine, then cover with butter, ...

Re: Downrigger ball size
The only times I have fished the Columbia is with guides and as said above, we used big dropper weights with bait or spinners (either trolling or anchored in the hog line) or pulled plugs.
I use 12# and braided DR line for all of my DR fishing (PS and lakes). Works for me.

You might contact the guy in this video - maybe one of hit boats (or customer's boats) would be able to work for your needs?

Heading out Monday as well with a boatload of Nebraskans. I'm all geared up for trolling and jigging, but really hoping we can find a jig bite

Re: Surf or Long beach rod recommendations??
I picked up the Cabela's version of the Ugly Stick called a Whuppin stick Surf rod for Mexico. About $90, Lure weight 1-8oz, line weight 15-40. I've used it for beach casting for salmon and surf perch, it is a little heavy for those but gets the job done (and would hold your reel).

Re: Regarding Crabbing endorsement purchased online
My question is, the crab catch record card, and salmon CR card is still supposed to come in the mail as well. So... Without the catch record card arriving yet, is she actually not able to crab? The temp license will show she purchased her crab endorsement, but she will have nowhere to record her cr...

Ran into him the other day - he's just busy with other ventures. Not sure if he is still producing videos for people or not. I can contact him and find out if you are interested.

Re: Waterproof fishing gloves
I like to have my fingers exposed so I don't lose dexterity (for line tying, etc.). I use nitrile gloves and the rag-wool 1/2 finger gloves over the top (they stay warm even when wet). If it is REALLY cold I take the peel and stick toe warmers and stick one on the inside/top of each glove so it is r...

Re: Absolute cheapest humpy lure
cheap.. a patch of hot pink fabric, a hook, a some kind of weight (nut, washer, split shot, whatever).
Put the fabric on the hook, put just enough weight to cast it out there about 1' above the hook. Cast out, let it sink a couple seconds, and twitch back..

Can you still get a vehicle to the bridge or is it gated off some where on the road? If it's gated then how far from the bridge?

My uncle had leased property south of Morton for cattle, we used to go camping there nearly every weekend. I remember being pissed when starting in April we weren't going camping there anymore. That morning we we're driving through Covington and I remember seeing the ash cloud from the car window an...

Re: Daiwa Lexa 100HS, just how much line is enough?
Stand at the goal post of your local high school football field and look at the other goal post. Goal post to goal post a football field is 120 yards If you are hooked into a salmon or steelhead and it has gotten that far away from you do you think that 20-40 extra yards is going to help?

Re: Reminder: turn/mail in your catch record by 30 April!
Remind me, the Steelhead Salmon CRC can't be submitted online, and has no penalty, unlike the crab CRC right? No online submit process, you have to mail them in but I am unclear about the penalty question. I've heard several stories but never had one confirmed. I do know they read at least some of ...

I would use a single siwash and run a 4-bead chain off the center eyelet then the hook.
