RE:Winter Sports fans?

I love to snowmoblie but have not been out yet this season. As Mark pointed out, if you want to snowmobile without ever leaving your car, all you have to do is drive a side street in Spokane County with the window down and you get the same thrill

I've had sucess using a little silicon oil on each guide, Remington made a fine tipped oil applicator for gun use call "Rem Oil". One word of advise is to read the label before using "Rem Oil" they make several different type, some are oil or graphite based and will just make a mess. It repells wate...

RE:Whitefish

I used to catch them all the time as a kid on the East slopes of the Cascade. The best way to catch them is with Salmon eggs (or pattern if in a Fly ownly area) with a size 10 hook. They have a small mouth and don't bite like a trout. Its more of a sucking feeling. Give them a couple of tugs before ...

RE:WDFW Considering Restrictions on Recreational Shooting

That is so typically of this state, including the rubberstamping. The only thing I love more than fishing is hunting, shooting and firearms in general. I've been a Life Member in the NRA since age 12. Although I am a huge supporter of the 2nd Admendment and think the WDFW are a bunch of buffoons I a...

I give TU a big ZERO in importance in Washington. I was a member for 1 year in 1996. After reading their magazine I felt dupted out of my money.I'm all for conservation, but I have never heard of them help fund anything around here. My general take is that they want every river to be wild and senic ...

E Wa is completely frozen over. Yesterday I took a spliting Maul and a 10lbs hammer and broke 3" ice did not see a single duck in 6 hours while standing waist deep in the water watching ice form around my decoys. But all was not lost, I shot 3 pheasants on my 1.5 mile hike back to the truck. I put m...

Lake Pend Oreille does not freeze, due to its size the upwelling water keeps the ice off. All the small ponds are frozen up and the smaller trout lakes are starting to ice over. It has not been above 32 in 10 days

RE:Am I Crazy For Tempted To Sell My Shotgun To Buy A New Rod And Reel?

I shoot a fair amount of trap, as well as duck and upland bird hunt. I estimate that I shoot 3000 12ga shells a year. There is nothing worse than a shotgun that does not fit well. If you don't like the feel of it get rid of it. In the last 5 years I traded in a Remington 870 for a Browning pump. I h...

Northern Ducks finally starting to show

I hunt the scab land ponds on the Lincoln/Spokane County line. After a month a poor shooting with few local ducks yesterday was a first morning of my 10 trips this year of northern ducks making their way into the area. I decoyed several groups of 4-6 of Mallards, a lot of green wing teal and a coupl...

Cavdad will likely give his take as well, but unlike a i/o outboards don't need to be winterized, as long and they are stored trimed all the way down so any water can drain out of the engine. The only time I have ever handled a frozen block claim on an outboard is when the engine was stored tilted u...

RE:How are the high energy prices effecting you?

It has not kept me home, but my fishing/hunting trips are more thoughtout. When gas was cheap I was always up for "where does that road go" or I am setting off North and will be home in a couple of days... that no longer happens. I have been spending more time fishing local lakes.

RE:What have you dropped or lost into a lake?

I lost and then retrevied both of my kids.:-$ (my wife still doesn't know) Last August I launched the boat in Newman for a little perch fishing. Since there is no dock at Newman I put both kids (5 and 3) in their life jackets and have them sit down as I back the boat into the water. I disconnected t...

My expirance is much like yours Little River. I grew up 8 miles North of Lake Wenatchee and spent my summers exploring...a very lucky childhood and a understanding mother when I was late for dinner. Each time I hiked into a lake I found little too no insect activity and had spotty sucess. Most of th...

I have read this entire topic top to bottom, I guess I am one of the few that still support our efforts in the middle east. I have two close friends in Iraq that paint a completely different picture from what we see on the news, and that point has already be covered. Personally none of us are going ...

RE:Strangest Thing in a Fish's Stomach

10 years ago in mid September I was on the upper portion of the Kettle River next to the Canadian boarder. I heard rumors of huge browns fatting up for winter in the late evenings, sure enought I had a big hook up on a wooly bugger, and landed a 20=21" brown with huge girth. The fish was hooked on i...
