Re: reel service
I just took mine up to Express Reel Service in Abbotsford, BC. With the exchange rate, it is a pretty good deal, and he did a great job with the service and repairs.

Skagit River Sockeye
Just noticed this update on the WDFW website regarding Skagit Sockeye: The in-river sockeye sport fishery is scheduled to start June 16th. It is unclear whether WDFW will have a permit to start fisheries by this date or not following the recent agreement with our co-managers on 2016 salmon fisheries...

Re: Id say we got a shaft once again!
http://wdfw.wa.gov/fishing/tribal/2016-17agreement.pdf Looks like the Nooksack has NO FISHING on the main stem at all this year........ Depressing, very depressing.... Did you look at page 14? It is all open as normal. Main stem, forks are on the normal opening schedule and normal limits. Same goes...

Re: June 1st
Have you considered heading over to Icicle creek or the Wenatchee river? Looking at old reports on this site, it looks like there should be some Chinook in there on June 1. That might be your closest option (although still not that close). Also, near the Cowlitz is the North Fork Lewis, which I fish...

Re: No salmon fishing in PUget Sound?
All parties seem to be suffering from a serious lack of trust. And to some extent, everyone is justified in not trusting the other parties. It reminds me of trying to negotiate a settlement between two neighbors who have been feuding for years. Nobody wants to trust the other side, and at the same t...

Re: Late July
You may need to revise your plans. All Puget Sound rivers (including the Skykomish) are currently closed due to a dispute between WDFW and the native tribes. A few lakes have been closed as well. There are portions of a few rivers that are still open to fish (above falls where salmon/steelhead do no...

Re: Puget sound steelhead
The Vedder river (BC) has a native broodstock program, and hatchery fish still tend to return earlier than the wilds - toward the end of the season (March), hatchery fish become rare. When they return isn't as important as when they spawn - they can return in October but if they wait to spawn until ...

Re: whatcom creek
No signs of fish as of Tuesday, although it seems that the baby seal is back (now he looks like a teenager). Hopefully the fish show up soon. My office is a few blocks away so this is an easy one for me. For those of you fishing jigs and blue foxes - do the seals turn off the bite? A few seals were ...
