Re: Salmon in trouble

Lower numbers of adult and juvenile fish in the salt chuck coupled with the very low water conditions we have been experiencing could add up to a crash in salmon runs. Although we can continue to pump hatchery fish into the system, their needs to be a MAJOR mind shift in the management models. We ca...

URGENT!! YOUR HELP IS NEEDED!!

We are making progress in our fight to open the WDFW/Tribal meetings that are currently closed to any public oversight! But, we NEED YOUR HELP! Our strength is in our numbers, and over 4000 sportsmen and women have already supported our petition. However, there are over 600,000 fishing license holde...

Re: Tribal gil nets are in the water in MA 10

Here are a few things the State can and should do if they truly supported open and fair fisheries management. The Director of the WDFW could, for starters; 1. Formally request mediation. 2. Request assistance from the Governor and his office of tribal affairs. 3. Ask the WDFW Commission to open a di...

Re: Tribal gil nets are in the water in MA 10

First, thank you to everyone who signed and support our initiative to bring some transparency to the Tribal/State North of Falcon negotiations. I would just like to touch on the subject of Sovereign nation and State responsibility as far as our fisheries are concerned. The Native American "nations" ...

Re: State loses contract to operate two fish hatcheries after report of sexual culture

Thank you Larry for posting this. It is truly unfortunate that even other gov't agencies can see how incompetent WDFW is in running our hatcheries. This is most unfortunate, since the momentum gained will be to eliminate even more hatcheries, or turn them over to the tribes.

Re: Petition for Open WDFW/Tribal NOF Meetings

SEP 1, 2017 — The recent flooding tragedies in Texas have highlighted how quickly and unexpectedly our lives and our lands can experience catastrophic damage. Our prayers and thoughts go out to the communities and to the wildlife impacted by these deadly floods. Take a moment with us and say a praye...

Re: Petition for Open WDFW/Tribal NOF Meetings

There has been a lot of movement on ending these secret meetings. Just to re-cap: Representative Pike has sent a very strong letter of support to the Department and Commission, requesting they keep her updated on efforts to find a resolution. We testified before the Commission at the last meeting, a...

Need info on fishing Black Lake in Olympia.

We will be doing a family camp at Black lake on the 18th of this month. Can you guys fill me in on the fishing prospects at Black Lake in Olympia? Have a boat, but not sure I want to trailer it there unless the fishing is worth it. Maybe bank with the grand kids if that will work.

Thanks

Re: South Sound Salt Water Pinks Browns Pt./Redondo/Pt Defiance?

Fished Browns Point by boat on Tuesday. Couple guys fishing off the beach and some boats all looking. No pinks yet, but they are getting a few resident silvers (3 to 5 lbs) off the beach and boats throwing silver cast masters and like hardware. I have heard that a couple of pinks were caught off Dal...

Re: Jetty fishing ocean shores

My wife and I have fished both sides of the Jetty at Brown's Point (Ocean shores) and have done well, under the right conditions. On the bar side, looking across to Westport, we found a mild incoming tide from low to high is the best. Using a dropper rig (weight on bottom and a hook about 2 feet abo...

Re: Government shutdown

At the hearing in Olympia we posed the question on how they would enforce the "No Fishing" and was told that enforcement is still working, they are closing fishing because there will be no one to do sampling.

Re: Petition for Open WDFW/Tribal NOF Meetings

At todays hearing, I read the letters that were sent in, as well as turned in copies, so they are now part of the permanent record and will be reviewed. Of the sportsmen that turned out, all spoke to or endorsed the need to end the secret meetings, and how destructive they are to the public's trust ...

Re: Petition for Open WDFW/Tribal NOF Meetings

The Fight continues: WDFW has asked for "Public Input" on proposed rule changes! What an insult! Asking for the public's input on rules that they made in secret, behind doors that they colluded with NWIFC to KEEP US UNINFORMED UNTIL AFTER THE DIRTY DEALS ARE MADE, THEN RAM THEM DOWN OUR THROATS!!! ...

Any updates on Riffe Lake and the fishing bridge?

Is Riffe lake fishing bridge truly dead? Have they permanently lowered the water to a point where the excellent fishing that was once done from the bridge yet another one of those fisheries we only have memories of?

Anybody have any current information?

Re: MA-11 Boat launch?

Got there at 9:30 and was surprised to see the launch was not that busy. Most guys got there at o'dark thirty to get a jump on the crab I guess. Launching was not hard, but parking is a freaking nightmare. There are literally only about 15 parking spaces for truck/trailer combos, and 5 are handicap....
