Re: No triploids? & very few "jumbo's"?
I'm hoping its inaccuracy, but have been occasionally been cross checking this years large fish from the stocking reports with the 2018 stocking plan.... so far pretty accurate. [sad] The classification of triploid, catchable and jumbo has changed many times over the years too. (ie: jumbo's and trip...

No triploids? & very few "jumbo's"?
I don't see any triploids planned for this year? Also, except for the annual 2500 beaver lake monster trout in october-november, there aren't any "jumbo's" planned for king county or the entire region 4 either. ???? Anyone know more than me about this? The statewide total for triploid trout is 0? ht...

Re: Trailers: Bunk v. Roller
I switched my 18' StarCraft aluminum from a roller to bunk trailer last fall. I think each trailer has advantages but I like power loading the bunk trailer. An electric winch is a HUGE help on the roller trailer. By the way I have a 18' EZ loader trailer with rollers and LED lights for sale $500 Wh...

Re: Trailers: Bunk v. Roller
Bunks are what I'm used to... 3rd year of using a roller trailer, I still don't like it. All of my ownership experience has been with 1000-2000 lb boats though. With the small boats, I like to untether the boat and back in to float it off of the trailer, pull forwards slowly to pull the boat in by t...

Re: propane heater
The canvas is so much more expensive than propane though.... This darned lund 1600 angler (deep vee aluminum 60hp outboard) has a single sided windscreen (driver has to tuck behind it to get shielded from wind at speed). any kind of enclosure plan at all first has to deal with the lacking windshield...

propane heater
Looks like my tank top heater is toast. Looking into something to replace it with. I recently borrowed a big buddy heater that worked great. Im leaning towards something similar to this. Are there any similar but recessed propane heaters like the indoor home wall heaters that would hold up in a mari...

Agreed. The date range search is pretty useless.

Re: Lake index search by month
That was a useful feature... The new search "by date range" throws out very random results from whatever era it chooses! Sometimes it seems to try to function for the first few results.

Re: Towing a boat over passes
On our scotty electric downrigger, the road grit caused the brake to not auto engauge when it stopped. By the time my dad engaged the brake handle, the 12# ball was traveling mach 10 towards the bottom of the lake.... and was not stopping for any brake! Cost us a ball and release clip, oh well. Good...

Re: Towing a boat over passes
I had the same plan as you a month ago. Towing in the snow and solid ice was fairly easy, I didn't need any chains on our trip. (diesel chevy w 16ft lund), but I traveled pretty cautiously. The launch was well maintained and plowed, but I had chains, sand and rock salt just incase. I learned why so ...

Re: Bolo Lure
Most shiny lures are indeed not genuine silver (nickel, stainless, chrome), but many many lures have been and still are genuine silver plated. Most are also clear lacquer coated to protect the silver. Mepps, blue fox, rooster tail etc are some common ones available in genuine silver plated. The silv...

Re: Bolo Lure
Thanks for the info db340, seems like the bolo's i had did have an odd sheen, maybe even frosty? That's why I was second guessing...... maybe it was nickel? They were garage sale finds, in the original packaging. I think the lure parts ended up getting "repurposed"and painted because the original fi...

Re: Bolo Lure
I'll have to take your word for it, as I cant find any of my old bolo blades. Agreed, real silver does not hold up forever, it wears through eventually. Many silver blades are clear coated though. I'm sure you are aware that many production spinner blades are or have been genuine silver plated. Blue...

Re: Bolo Lure
I just found a half dozen bolo gang trolls in my stash too, some new in the box. They are not silver plated like the old bolo spinner blades were though. The old silver plated blades were super bright and flashy when polished up.

Re: Paintball guns for furbags?
Well, according to your initial post, you are losing just a fraction over one fish per year. I honestly don't know how many trips you make per year, what the daily limit may be during your outings, or what kind of financial burden losing these fish may cause. I've given up multiples in a day to siz...

Re: Paintball guns for furbags?
The way I read it, page 2 outlines the do's and don'ts specifically for fisherman. Potential methods for use by fishers to deter Pacific harbor seals, California sea lions, and eastern U.S. stock Steller sea lions from damaging gear or catch (anglers must be actively fishing with gear deployed). Vis...
