Re: Puget Sound salmon season

I have been out with BARCHASER twice this week. Limits both times. Mostly hatchery fish. Tuesday we hooked the last fish at 8 AM. Today (Thursday) we limited by 10 AM. Gary asked me to post some pics from both days.

Re: That's gonna leave a mark!.... WDFW announces Lake clos

I did some research on salmon smolt predation in Lake Washington. SMB do take their share of smolts, but the Northern Pikeminnow takes more. Cutthroat also are on the list. Smolts are most at danger in the rivers, when first entering the lake, and when leaving the lake. The entrance to the Montlake ...

Re: Bobbers and float fishing and line, well sort of.

Once you choose your mono, you can improve the float properties by applying fly fishing line dressing to the top 30 feet or so.

Re: Bass boat... Finance or pay in full?

Boats hold their value much better than cars. I was able to get a 12-year loan for my boat. Made for a reasonable boat payment. And around here, I can use my boat pretty much year-round.

Re: winter lake washington perch

I was out scouting for perch with a buddy Saturday. We found one school in the east channel near the Seahawks facility, but we had trouble staying on them due to the wind. I had a couple of 5-gallon buckets, but forgot some rope to make drift buckets. Good to know where I might find more next time, ...

Re: Shipwreck tide trolling direction

I agree. Pinks can be caught going either with or against the tide. Fishing with the tide is typically better and you cover more water. Once you find them, circle or figure 8 back through the school.

Re: Getting a new boat

I tried towing a boat with my Mazda 4 cyl pick-up. After burning out most of the clutch trying to get the boat and trailer back up the ramp, I knew I needed either a bigger engine or a smaller boat. Then I got married and my wife wanted to go boating and fishing with me, so we needed to consider her...

Well, that devolved quickly... Please don't think I was slighting troutfinatic in the least (love the handle, by the way). Finders keepers. I have kept and used found gear without any qualms. This gear can be considered lost or abandoned. As such, I concede that it is his to do with as he pleases. ...

Re: would you use a boat left on the shore of a secluded lak

If I remember correctly, there are boats as well as life preservers for public use on Hummel Lake on Lopez Island. The life preserver locker was made with public donations after a child drowned in the lake. Some folks, and especially some kids, will go ahead and use a found boat, regardless. Knowing...

9' Livingston with motors and trailer - sold

Sold to a fellow member I bought this boat two years ago as a car topper, but ended up selling my pick-up, so I bought the trailer. I also bought a new trolling motor and battery to complete the package. I’ve had this boat out a few times this year. It has been in fresh water only, never in salt wat...

This is similar to a story I heard from my Grandfather, only in his version it was a garter snake with a grasshopper in its mouth, and the booze was scotch.
