Re: New to Personal Pontoons, looking for tips/info.
In another forum I belong to, someone started a thread on float tube safety. This was taken from one of the posters: "Legally, in WA I don't believe that you need a PFD on a float tube, at least if you go by this definition of PFD requirements and what a vessel is: (1) No person may operate or permi...

Minor spelling error: On your Service/Rates page: At River Chrome Guide Service, we value putting clients on the fish they signed up to catch. As a result, we have a general policy that says not matter what, if you do not catch a fish on a trip with us, we will automatically give you 50% off the nex...

Re: WDFW Q & A Thread - Questions for Stacie Kelsey, WDFW
I did a search here on the forms and did not see a clear answer for what I was looking for. Where in Western WA can I find Catfish?? to me it all looks like it is on the eastern side of the state.and I really dont want to drive that far in less I have to. Dan Here is a link to WDFW's Fish Washingto...

Re: Yellow spots on Tigers
Don't confuse phenotype (way it looks) with genotype (the actual genetic makeup). Each parent contributes half of its genetic material to its offspring. What may be happening is something called dominance. So there could be a gene for yellow pigmentation in northern pike and in muskellunge. The gen...

Re: Sea Sickness medication
Depending upon how rough the seas are, I'll use bonine, ginger candy, or both. The following was taken from another forum that had a thread on motion sickness: Commander A.M. Steinman, Special Medical Operations Branch, U.S. Coast Guard, wrote a very interesting article on the subject of seasickness...

Re: Combo License Upgrade - Ever done it?
I am fairly certain your going to piece meal your licenses going forward. I have added a saltwater license to an existing freshwater license purchased at a earlier time and the option of a combo price was not an option. Plus there was no discount for adding the crab when fresh and salt licenses are...

RE:No motorized boats allowed...does this also mean electric
In several instances, this is not clear because the state says one thing and the county says another. Fish Lake by Cheney states in the WDFW regs that "no internal combustion motors allowed." However, Spokane County owns the property that Fish Lake sits on. In the park regulations, it clearly state...

On Banks Lake a few years ago there were a bunch of russians, I believe, netting largemouth off the beds. That made it so the tourney fishermen couldn't weigh in largemouth during May and June - still can't. And that is my favorite fish on Banks. Smallmouth are ok, I almost won a qualifer tourney a...

RE:Pend Oreille River Gill netting and article from the Newport Miner please read
I've noticed several times that northern pike have been referred to as an aquatic invasive species. FYI, they are actually classified as a prohibited aquatic animal species (WAC 232-12-090). In addition, northern pike are also classified as a game fish under WAC 232-12-019. I can understand the rati...

Sprague Lake search: Rehab project finally kicks in By Rich Landers, The Spokesman-Review (October 30, 2010) SPRAGUE -- Three years after Washington's largest fisheries rehabilitation project, Sprague Lake is just barely kicking into gear. As predicted. The annual fall fisheries survey was conducted...

RE:Need a new depth finder
I was looking for a new fish finder this summer. The one I was replacing was about 10 years old and didn't have very good resolution. 160 vertical pixels by 128 horizontal pixels. After a lot of research I narrowed my choice down to two brands, Lowrance and Humminbird. Both units were in color, they...

My take is that if the river is not navigable by definition and the land is posted, you are allowed to fish, but you need to be on some type of floating device and passing through. No tying up to shore or the use of an anchor. I got a list of navigable waters from the US Coast Guard 13th District. H...

I hate to be a wet blanket, but survival of fall plants is very low, and the reason WDFW plants them in fall is to get rid of them because there's more fingerlings in the hatchery than the existing facilities have room for. This is good in the sense it indicates hatchery survival is very good and w...

RE:fresh water clams
A friend of mine is a freshwater native non-game fish biologist for WDFW and happened to come across your posting. She told me that it is illegal to collect freshwater clams for eating or any other personal use. She also said that the clam ( actually a mussel) you are seeing in the Snohomish is prob...

I like it except I am a bit confused about the knotless net part.... How many people own a knotless net large enough to land a tiger musky in? I have a very large musky net from frabil that has the rubberized coating on it. Does this qualify as a knotless net? I think this part might be getting a l...
