Re: Why coon shrimp?

They're an all all around better bait than your run of the mill shrimp. Steelhead prey on coon stripe shrimp on the salt when they mature and prepare for the journey to their natal systems. I suggest the cured store bought version. It's cheaper than buying pounds of coon shrimp and curing them yours...

The one on the bottom is a nice fish but the rest of those are some redd zone super spawners that are about to burst! =D>

Re: Ready for Winter Steelhead?

Maybe you should ask Santa Claus for a pair of waders this year? At least you'd look like a guide then [thumbsup] I spend my money on stuff that helps me catch fish... good hooks, floats, rods/reels. No 700$ pair of Simms is gonna help me on the river. Besides, neoprene is Warm in the winter [flapp...

Re: Kennedy?

Oh I am using barbless and know how to catch fish in there, I just want clarification on barb or barbless there. It seems the wdfw doesn't even know! If all we have to go by is the regs, and it doesn't say if it is or isn't, how can they ticket you for that? If it doesn't state otherwise then that ...

Re: Duwamish Chums

are chums worth fishing for in terms of keeping an edible fish or are they more useful for sport fishing? cut in strips, beer batter and deep fry. Again, only bright fish. That actually sounds like a really good idea considering they are the driest and least fatty. Rolled in corn meal like a catfis...

Re: Silver Season Over?

If you are snagging them you are not doing it right. With the exception of right as the jig hits the water(and there is a fish there) you should not be foul hooking the fish anymore then with a dick nite or spinner. When twitching jigs you only want the jig to hop along the bottom(and it pisses off...

They lack a lot of fat so making jerky with them is always a good option. Fresh chrome fish only.

Re: Duwamish Chums

Chum for the most part are a krill eater, being a krill eater naturally they go for more pinkish colors. Hot pink and cerise seem to be the two colors that they most aggressively go for. All of your shrimpy scents are best to use also krill, prawn, sand shrimp etc.

Re: First Coho Season

Don't listen to the elitists who think they are above drifting a cork...it catches fish just as well as any other method depending on the river conditions/layout. Some people just think they are above it and better than anyone else who doesn't fish the same way they do. And don't ever let anyone te...

Stay away from a corkie or beads. What you are using and doing us just fine. My advice to you is to look for fish that are rolling, and to keep hiking until you find em.

Re: Best Way to Store your Cured Eggs

Why are my eggs getting mushy after a week or so? Ive been using firecure. I just laid them out and sprinkled a little borax over them to see if they will stiffen...any way to help get them back in to shape??? You're not refreezing them and thawing them more than once are you? That will cause mush ...

Re: Best Way to Store your Cured Eggs

After you cure your eggs in a jar and the are sealed tight you can store them anywhere. It is unnecessary to freeze or refrigerate them, although refrigerators are a great storing space. If your jar of eggs is sealed tight you can just put em up in the garage. Cures are preservatives that essential...

Re: Rigging up and BC Spoon and Blue Fox #5

Matching blade color to water temp, light conditions, and turbidity is very important also, however that is an all new can of worms. I suggest buying a book or doing a bit of research to unlock all of those mysteries.

Re: Rigging up and BC Spoon and Blue Fox #5

Make sure to put a #5 barrel swivel on the front of your spoon and do the same thing to your siwash. It prevents twist and the swivel attached to your siwash lets the hook rotate 360 degrees.
