Re: Whatcom Creek - Bellingham Wa

Every year is different. Example, the creek I usually fish and catch silvers is ready to be fished by late sept first week of Oct. This year didn't see or better yet didn't catch anything until the 25th of Oct.

Re: Whatcom Creek - Bellingham Wa

I can't release in the tube as I will not fish the wall but opposite of it. I usually just pull the hook out without removing them from the water. Touching them as little as possible. I only fish that creek to keep females as I'm looking for eggs for winter steelhead. I usually freeze a few skeins f...

Re: Whatcom Creek - Bellingham Wa

I would say to wait a week. Usually around the 10th of November is when I start to make plans to make it up there. In about 2 weeks you won't be able to keep them off your hooks. Then a week after thanksgiving it usually dies down drastically. Fortunately this year thanksgiving is early

Re: Whatcom Creek - Bellingham Wa

Lol this creek is to small for the rains to affect the fish. I'm sure they will be in with or without the rain

Re: Impact of rain???

Lake washington isnt really impacted by rains. On contrary it will die down for coho because of rains. They will all push up the Sammamish river. Unlike popular belief rain has little impact in big bodies of water like the sound or big lakes like washington for salmon. Rains only improves river cond...

Re: Bring on the rain.

The rivers are shaping up right now. Coho have spread throughout the area systems. Will be out in force on Wednesday trying to connect with a few coho. Stay safe out there and tight lines

Bring on the rain.

With this weeks rain I am anxious to get out on the rivers. While it may be getting blown out right now in a week or 2 the fishing should really heat up in some of the areas tributaries that have been to shallow for salmon to migrate as usual

They do fine but don't belong there. They don't belong anywhere in this state. I'm not against bass where they don't impact native species. Either way this topic is about what he caught and this discussion is for another topic completely

Re: Coho, rain & Lake Washington

It's simply an excuse for not catching. Example "man there's plenty of fish in there but can't get a bite. Hopefully it rains soon" what I am trying to say is that yes rain will push more fish upriver but salmon will still migrate into the lower stretches of a lot of rivers waiting for water levels ...

Re: No more Pinks, so Coho... River help?

Answer for question 1 is no you will not get a fine if you release it. Just make sure you don't take it out of the water as that can get you a fine. Second is I recommend using google maps. Find a spot that looks like it has downed trees, look for turns in the river as those spots usually have riffl...

Lake kachess boat launch.

So I am planning on going to lake kachess this weekend to camp and try my luck with kokanee. After setting up plans with my brother in law he stated that the launch is closed right now. I do know that they close at some point but was wondering if anyone had any info if indeed it is actually closed a...

Re: Tribal gil nets are in the water in MA 10

Unfortunately Larry3215 is right. While I don't agree with the practice it's nothing to really get worked about or put the blame on wdfw as they can do absolutely nothing unless the boldt decision is ever turned which it won't. Also it doesn't say we get to have half the fish in only states the surp...

Re: Tips for a newbie/visitor?

October is a great time for fall chinook on the Columbia. Hanford reach area. It's definitely better on a boat but you still catch them off the bank. If I were to fish the Columbia for kings in oct I would most likely fish ringold springs and either throw spinners with shrimp or plunk with spin n gl...

Re: Rod/Reel for Salmon Fishing on WA Rivers

I like braided line for float fishing but the reason I stay with mono is for drift fishing. Braid tends to be lighter and can create youre lure to come off the bottom especially in faster water. Also no stretch while fighting fish which can create problems for some. Mono being a heavier line it will...

Re: Duwamish river daily limit confusion

While I haven't fished the green this year I can tell you that there is no shortage of pinks on the snohomish. Can't say for sure but it seems like it was undeforcasted and the fish are showing up in big numbers. Like I said I'm not a biologist and don't know for certain what the numbers are at this...

Re: Rod/Reel for Salmon Fishing on WA Rivers

For line I prefer izorline in the 10-12 lb range. No need for heavy line and no need for braided line unless you are float fishing so it all depends on what and how you are using it. If you are float fishing 15 lb braided works great

Re: Rod/Reel for Salmon Fishing on WA Rivers

I go as light as possible. Better to detect bites and way more fun. I bought a Berkley air im8 last year and works just fine paired with a shimano symetre 2500 with 10lb line. Ive caught coho, chum and pinks on it and is great. Its a 9'6 light action rod rated for 6-10lbs. Those 8-17 lb okumas are t...
