Check the emergency regs if you plan to fish any rivers emptying into the sound.

Re: That's gonna leave a mark!.... WDFW announces Lake clos
Does anyone know how/why the tribal impass on salmon affects areas never open to salmon fishing? I just don't get it. I've contacted my federal reps on the issue but this seems to be a state decision.

Re: Getting nervous!
I'm with you Toni, doesn't make sense. Perhaps it's an ESA requirement or perhaps WDFW is playing games of its own here. Th This now 90 % of all the places I fish. What are the ads tourney guys gonna do?

Re: That's gonna leave a mark!.... WDFW announces Lake clos
I support WDFW, but I can't help smelling a rat in closing the two biggest warm water fisheries! When was the last time a bass angles accidentally hooked a salmon in the east channel of lake Washington? I'll do my research-- perhaps this is required by the ESA but it's suspicious.

Re: Lake Stevens tips?
Hi GTeye, If Stevens is your go-to lake you might consider investing in a guided trip. If you can get some friend, its not that much and you'll learn a lot. Steelhead360 is a sponsor here and fishes Stevens. That said, most of the guides fish for kokanee, so if you are particular about rainbows I'm ...

Bait Buoy, Boat Stuff--cleanout
Hi All, I'm cleaning out unused items. See the pics, no reasonable offer refused, prefer to sell in bunches. I'm in Bellevue. Prices for the more desirable items: Bait Buoy (like new, paid $50): $25 Some guys LOVE these (squid not included). All stuff in boating pic (Trailer pigtail (fits too loose ...

Re: Lake Sammamish fishing
If you're ultimately asking is there a market for a part time guide on Sammamish, absolutely. Its sitting in the middle of a major metropolitan area. You'd need to consider your target market and the particularities of the fishery. I'd bet that with some marketing one could do a fine part time busin...

Re: Thoughts on boat covers
I may be late to the party, but I got a cover for my last boat from SavvyBoater. It was a Carver "semi-custom", which means its made for your model of boat, but not your exact boat. For mine it fit almost perfect. It was a very heavy duty cover with about 8 straps that went under the boat so was rea...

Re: Best all around Fish Fillet Knife?
I have a Ken Onion fillet knife. I love it for salmon but do find myself using two knives--the ken onion to get the fillet off and a Kershaw, which is more flexible, to get the rib bones off (I cut the fillet off with the rib bones and remove them later). Check out Mike's salmon filleting video feat...

Re: Thoughts on line twist when trolling flashers..?
I also use a golf tee bead ahead of the mainline snap swivel to theoretically prevent the swivel from getting fouled up. I fish braid now and haven't noticed any twist (or maybe its just not as obvious as with mono).

Herring Strips
Anyone know where I can buy herring strips? Outdoor emporium used to sell the small rectangular packs of them but hasn't had them in a while. I know I can filet off whole herring, but 1) I'm lazy and 2) those strips made for 4 nice smaller strips out of each and I can't seem to replicate that with m...

Re: Anchor weight
Not to hijack the thread, but I will anyway. Suggestions on the type of anchor for the lower Snohomish? I have a slip ring that holds me fine on sandy bottoms in a moderate tide, but haven't tried it in the river. Boat is 21 foot fiberglass.

Re: Getting a new boat
If you're considering a used boat and you have the money and space you might look to buy in 2 or 3 months than 6. A lot of folks try to sell so they don't have to store their boat over the winter, though that might not hold true for a small aluminum. I used to have a 14 foot Lund and it was a light,...

Re: Pinks from shore - Seattle area
If you are from Sammamish, don't overlook the points north--Picnic Point in Edmonds, for example. It can often take less time to get there than any of the Seattle spots.

San Juans Help
I'm spending the day on James Island, near Decatur and Blakely. We plan to crab and fish for pinks and/or bottom dwellers--whatever does not require trolling (Kids want more action they say). I've never fished the area and most of the reports are trolling for chinook--any suggestions? I don't want t...

Re: Need advise on boating near the Tri-Cities
I went to the tri cities for the first time last year. We were just playing, not fishing. Generally found it a big calm lake (its an impound of McNary dam). I never went upstream far enough to get free flowing water. However when the wind came up it was another matter. I have a 21 foot sea ray and w...
