Re: Divorce Sale..... 1987 Bayliner Trophy 2460
Need this gone ASAP. Will sell for $6K without the kicker or the new sonar/plotter. This is a smoking deal. I hope someone jumps on it! The boat is advertised elsewhere but not for this cheap anywhere else. If it doesn't sell soon it will go on consignment at a dealer.

Re: 17,000 over Bonneville!?
We were fishing below John Day last weekend. On Sat. we were on the water by 0630 and limited out by 0830. On Sun. we had one more fish to catch by 1000 and spent the rest of the day releasing natives. I caught and released 10 fish between 10:00 and 3:00. All were native. I couldn't get a hatchery f...

Re: Thinking about heading to Westport
I've been keeping an eye on the ocean forecast. I am still up in the air about heading down there for a couple of days this weekend. If I do I still don't know if I'll bring the boat or try my hand at surf casting and fishing from the jetty. Does anyone have any insight on how rough the harbor gets?...

Well, I still haven't made it out there. I've had to make do fishing American lake on my lunch break. Work, family etc sure do get in the way sometimes ;) I am going to try to get out there this weekend. Re: Thinking about heading to Westport
I'm getting pretty pumped about this weekend. I've been keeping an eye on the surf forecast and I am still not sure about taking the boat up there. My buddy is aiming to head to Newport OR this weekend if he can get over the bar and if it's nasty he's going to go to Waldport (SP?) and just go crabbi...

Re: Anyone gone for Surf Perch lately?
What technique do you use to catch the giant perch? Just bottom fish with a dropshot and hook/bait or do you jig? I've surf casted a couple times from the beach but haven't tried my hand at jetty fishing for perch.
Thanks in advance!

Re: Trolling plates
Thanks for the input! I ended up scoring a 6hp yamaha kicker for a great deal. I think it's a bit small for the ocean but should do great for trolling in the lakes. I might still try a trolling plate for the ocean though. My boat idles at about 3.5-3.8 mph. If I was trolling against a tide rip I thi...

Trolling plates
I'm in need of a kicker but it might be a while before I have the funds. What are your opinions on using a trolling plate as an alternative? I fish a 24' trophy with an OMC 350 and merc out drive (I think). I normally fish for Kokanee and occasionally troll for salmon as well as jig for bottom fish ...

Re: Share Your Favorite Smelt Recipe
Fried smelt sound tasty. I have heard that once fried you can pull the heads of the smaller ones off and the entrails go with the head then you can just pop the rest into your mouth bones and all. I've never tried it though. In Alaska we used to get huge runs of smelt and I'd always net a few to be ...

I have always done really well with these: http://www.kodiakcustom.com/index.php?o ... &Itemid=68" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
I also have had good luck with 4 oz jigheads with white curly tail jigs

I didn't get a chance to get any smelt, but I am curious how you all like to prepare them. Maybe seeing all of these recipes will help me prepare for next year.
Thanks!

Re: Anyone want to fish American Lake?
Thanks for the replies! I plan on getting out there this weekend at some point. Most likely it will be sunday. I'll post in this thread before I go out. Not sure if I am going to fool with the boat or bank fish off the bottom for trout.

Re: Anyone want to fish American Lake?
I so want to go, but know nothing about that lake. Hit me up if you just need company. Sounds good man. I'm thinking that we can try trolling for a couple of hours and if it doesn't pan out we can start throwing some plastics and nightcrawlers out and maybe catch some perch or smallmouth. ...

Anyone want to fish American Lake?
Looking for someone to fish American Lake near JBLM with. I have a 24' boat with ample gear/downriggers/electronics. Hoping to find someone that knows the lake. Maybe we can get out and pick up some kokes, trout and/or perch.

Re: Thinking about heading to Westport
Thanks for the helpful links and info! I have a 24' Trophy which I am sure could handle some chop but I have no desire to head out in anything that large. I think I will choose my days carefully and possibly head farther south. Maybe Newport or something like that to fish sand dabs and crab inside t...
