Re: Spot Shrimp Newbie

I shrimp with my friend up off Whidby and Camano. We use 400' of line (leaded preferred), the square traps (SMI makes a nice one), between 20#-30# of lead pot weights, and multiple floats per pot. We learned long ago that you need to add weight to the pot and have a trailer float(s) off the main flo...

Re: Cleaning Fiberglass.

The outdoor cleaners are mostly bleach based. You could also just make a 10% bleach/water solution and scrub with that. A little added TSP works as a degreaser as well. 30 sec cleaner is already mixed though.

Re: Rats taking residence within vehicle engine compartment??

Yeah, I know people will say leave the hood up, but not in Seattle. It would be a total invite for the truck to be messed with. Again, nice neighborhood etc. but we have security cameras everywhere. I don’t leave a soda can in the yard. Last year our entire street (about 1 mile). Had ALL the mailbo...

Re: Rats taking residence within vehicle engine compartment??

That sucks Chris! Question: Is this in a vehicle that sits dormant for a while or is it your daily use vehicle? They might be getting up in there for the warmth during the cold months. When visiting Glacier NP a couple years ago, we noticed along our journey the majority of people at the campsites i...

Re: whats the worst lure you have ever bought?

The Gitzit spinners that are copies of the Rooster Tail. My wife bought me a pack as a stocking stuffer for Xmas one year. The quality of those lures was painfully poor. I couldn't keep the blade spinning unless it was really ripping through the water, which was pointless. I had one real Rooster Tai...

Re: boat loader for 12 ft boat

Rod, Sorry, no experience with automatic boat loaders. I do have a 12' aluminum V-hull that I cart around in the back of a standard bed full size truck. It works well, but takes a lot of effort to load/unload between the boat and all the gear (motor -electric and/or gas, oars, seats, battery, fishin...

Thanks....was thinking maybe the OAKI neoprene waders. They seem to get good reviews. Will look around some more.

Youth wader recommendations

I'm currently on the lookout for youth waders for my 10yo. Thinking of going with neoprene due to Fall/Winter weather...and she's slight of build. Any recommendations on brands/dealers? Or if anyone has any kicking around they don't need anymore....
Thanks!

Re: Can anyone tell me about the Green River

No need for a kayak unless that's your thing. There area lot of public access sites from the mouth all the way to Flaming Geyser. Look on Google Maps for the green "park" areas. Most have trails that access the river. Otherwise Nate's advice is what you'll want to follow.

This ^^

If anti-snagging rule in effect, only one single point hook.

Re: Lead core line recommendations?

Thanks G-Man, that is what I was looking for. It is really a bummer, but yes, I sent this message via the fishing line aisle at OE, and Yes, they really have not kept up their stock on a lot of things for quite some time. I used to love this place, but I feel like they are slipping badly. ](*,) Agr...

I always crimp. I make it flat and have never had a problem. I’ve heard some wardens can be ultra picky, but I’ve never witnessed that.

They look like pop rivets. I assume you’ll have to drill them out. Hopefully they’re something else and someone will have the solution. Thanks for the reply.. When you talk about drilling them out, you understood though that they are just seated into this cheap soft vinyl skin that covers what is l...

Re: Too much!

What size are those? 8 or 10? Pretty good really for only 3 mo in. Takes a bit to figure out the nuances of the material and thread. Remember, the fish typical care less how they look than we do. Some of my flies and jigs are ugly, but they still catch fish.

Re: Too much!

Those look good! Too much material? Don’t see it. If you think your feathers hang too far off the backed the hook, try using some type of measurement device when laying down the marabou. For palmered feathers you don’t have much choice though outside of picking material out at the store. Good job.

Re: Trout Fishing

This site has a research section for different lakes.
Go here:
http://northwestfishingreports.com/Area/Details/7488

Also, if the lake access is on State Park land you’ll need to buy a State Parks pass. $10/day or $30/yearly
