Re: Best Ultralight Lures For Small Bass
I grew up on a small lake in Federal Way and always had a blast using small Rapalas. We would just twitch them on the surface for bluegills and small bass, loads of fun! If the lure was close enough to the boat, we could see bass hovering below the lure. Would wiggle the rod tip so the plug kind of ...

Re: Wall mounted rod holder options, or DIY?
I think it would be cheap and easy to do one out of PVC pipe and tees. Just glue the tees in series with a little pipe in between and add a piece of pipe ti the outlet of the tee for a little length. I searched PVC rod holder on the internet and there was a bunch of different types. Some freestandin...

Lake Roosevelt Sturgeon
I am pondering going up to Lake Roosevelt next Friday for the Sturgeon opener and I am looking at the Kettle Falls area. Curious if anyone has any insight on what section of the lake to try for Sturgeon? I do not need specific spots or tactics, just general vicinity where I could locate some. I cons...

Re: 'Other lakes on Colville Reservation' ??
looks like there is a resort on both North and South Twin Lakes. I have only fished South so not sure if North Twin is any good or not. Rainbow Beach on North and Hartmans on South if you want to look them up. I think they are connected by a canal and if the boat is not too big, you can travel betwe...

Re: 'Other lakes on Colville Reservation' ??
I have fished a couple up there but has been a while. Buffalo was okay but the fish were on the small side, 8"-10" rainbows and a few small largemouth. Twin lakes was a blast but more for quantities of fish rather than quality. We could catch 50-60 largemouth a day but largest was about 2lbs. Caught...

Re: Side planer boards?
I also built my own and use the downriggers for a mast. We use shower curtain hooks with mini clips to get our lines attached to the cable. I have a bunch of clips so no need to pull in the boards after catching a fish. Just hook another shower curtain hook with line clipped into the release and sen...

Not sure how far you want to travel but found a pretty good deal in Moses Lake.

Re: Rod building kit
Sorry Quadfather, I misunderstood. My father actually built the turning machine for me, nothing fancy but gets the job done. TrackerPro - Anglers Workshop has an excellent selection of blanks and components for anything you would like to build.

Re: Rod building kit
I have built several rods and prefer buying separate components rather than a kit. The reason is I can get exactly what I want for guides, thread color, and handle options. The kit may be a bit less expensive to purchase. The last one I built was a 7 foot, 1-4lb test St Croix spinning rod. It is bla...

Re: Wanapum dam boat launch on down stream side?
There is a pretty new launch on the Vantage side of the river below Wanapum. Nice concrete launch with a dock, plenty of parking and a restroom. The only issue I see is a big shallow bar heading to the main river. Looks like if you go downstream around it, should be fine. If I were to fish that sect...

Re: Campfire cooking ideas?
Another good yet easy one is campers stew. Take ground beef, potatoes, and whatever veggies and spices you want. mix all together in a doubled tinfoil pouch and throw on the rack. The kids can make their own, that is half the fun. No limit to what you want to add, I usually throw in some A-1 and che...

Two Pole Question
I have a question in regards to fishing near Priest Rapids on the Columbia. It states in the regs that you can fish with two poles except for sturgeon. My question is can you use one pole for sturgeon and another rod for say walleye or whitefish?

Re: Twisting Gloomis Reel Seats
I looked online and found a couple suggestions. First one stated to obtain a syringe that would hold enough epoxy to reset the seat. Work the needle in behind the real seat and inject. Another suggestion was to drill a few small holes in the seat itself and inject epoxy through them. It was suggeste...

Re: Other Colville reservation lakes..?
Can you say if these two lake are better fished via a boat, or would a float tube be sufficient? I am not oppossed to tubing fairly good size lakes. Boat launch available? boat would be best but float tube would be fine. There are a couple launches on each of the lakes. I could see catching bass on ...

Re: Other Colville reservation lakes..?
There are twin lakes directly east of Omak. It has been a while since I fished there but should be loaded with rainbows, brook trout, and plenty of largemouth. Tons of small bass, we had to work to get anything over a pound but they are thick. Always fished south twin, never been in the north one.
