Re: river wading for smallmouth
I made a road trip between Yakima and Richland along the Yakima river. Nearly every place I stopped, caught smallmouth. Best lure was a 3" motor oil grub with gold metal flake on a 1/4oz jighead. Fish size was anywhere from 3/4 - 2lbs, no monsters but strong fighting fish. Also caught some on small ...

Re: Fisheries "Science"
I do not want to argue with anyone, just interject my two cents. Bodo and Skagit are both correct. Rainbows and steelhead are genetically the same fish. Their environments and strains make them different. I am not sure how many strains of rainbows there are, I can think of six off the top of my head...

Re: Sunrise Baits?
I bought a couple jars and had them shipped to Moses Lake. We used them for fall Chinook on the Columbia in the Hanford reach area. In four trips we landed roughly 30 fish on these eggs with divers and spin-n-glo's. Lasted well on the hook and milked just fine.

First blood and slime, YEAH! Looks very comfy to fish out of and I love what you did with the downriggers on those posts, genius! Fish box is great to, whole setup is nicely laid out. Congrats, ready for when the silvers hit the sound.

Re: cut plug herring
The brine I use is a heaping cup of rock or pickling salt, 1/8 cup of Carnation powdered milk, a few drops of bait bluing, and water. Put ingredients in a sealable 1/2 gallon container, add water and mix. Toss frozen herring in the night before going fishing and you are ready to roll in the morning....

Re: Rufus Woods
Funny you mention rocks Bodofish. We were above the island trolling downstream when we came to an abrupt stop. I look over the side and we are high centered on a rock, scared the heck out of me. Not sure how it missed the bow mount electric but it did. Dad and I walked to the bow and rocked back and...

Re: Rufus Woods
I have fished for them at Rufus and occasionally have done well. Best producer was a spinner/worm harness fished just of the bottom hitting current seams trolling with the current. We also would troll upstream in the larger eddies. Dad and I hit it this last Saturday and only found one walleye, abou...

Re: Banks Lake Craws?
I have caught a ton of craws at Banks. Just before you go up the big hill prior to million dollar mile there is a dirt road to the left. We would walk down to the beach and flip rocks, find one or two under most. I would think anywhere there are rocks, there would be crawfish.

Re: Fly Fishing, alpine lakes/wild cutts and rainbows
I have fished the Greenwater chain of lakes near Chinook Pass and found dry flies to be deadly in the morning and evening. we would use size 14 and 16 Adams and Humpies and it did not matter if they were floating or under the surface. After the morning bite, we would throw spoons and spinners. Surfa...

Re: Belize Fishing Experience?
I am probably going to state things that you are already taking. A pair of shoes that you can wade the flats in, sounds like many active species on the flats. A quality pair of polarized sunglasses for spotting fish. Maybe topwater plugs for snook? I would also bring an extra spool of line for each ...

I have one just like it in my garage. Fished it exactly as G-Man stated, with a squid or j-plug behind the Abe-n-Al.

What a walloping! We are the champions! I think because I tied that fly, they dominated Denver! Only thing I feel bad about is that Manning had to lose, truly a class act and tremendous player.

I tied up a couple flies for lake Roosevelt. One is my version of a Trick or Treat, the other is a Seahawk in honor of the game tomorrow. Go Hawks!! Bring home the trophy!!

Re: Rufus Woods Kokanee
It used to be an okay kokanee fishery 15-20 years ago, in fact, biggest kokanee I ever saw came out of there. It was around 5lb, awesome fish caught by a friend. It has been a long time since I pulled one out, usually fish it 6-7 times a summer. What we caught them on were homemade spinners tipped w...

Re: Rod building mentor in kitsap area
I have been building rods for about 15 years but am no expert. What I did to learn was trial and error for the first few. Went on the internet and watched some videos which made my life a whole lot easier. I am not trying to deter you from learning from someone, just offering options. It would have ...

Deepest condolences Phil, tough loosing a family member. I will squeeze my dog and say a prayer for Amber when I get home. Fishing is an amazing therapy, take a trip to Rosie for some of those nice bows you've been catching.
