Re: Sonar interpretation?
When I'm using side scan I typically set the range to 40-45 feet as I want a bit more sensitivity. It looks like the best use of side scan will be to effect stand off of rocks or other things and then position the boat accordingly to drag a side planer over the spot.

Re: Sonar interpretation?
My version of an "on the water" discussion would be mostly fishing with about 5 minutes of pointing at side view when it's a fish. The Humminbird tutorials are rather obvious when a fish is on side view. Real world isn't quite that easy. I wouldn't say we're close mouthed about ML walleye fishing it...

Re: Sonar interpretation?
Larry, you ever fish Moses Lake for walleye? We could have an "on the water" discussion. Hi Bill, we try to get over to that area a couple of times a year, but we have not actually fished on Moses yet. We always seem to end up at Potholes for some reason. After reading the preliminary notes that Mi...

Re: "Legal" stocked fish
Some of those lakes might have been stocked prior to the TrailBlazers/Hi-Lakers keeping records. One might check out the Ernie Wolcott books and go over that stocking data. I don't know which group toted those fish to the lakes. Might have even been WDFW themselves. There would have been no illegal ...

Re: Fishfinder/Chartplotter Recommendations:
go to the January sportsman show and take the free Lowrance class. They will show you more usage and tricks than the average user knows.
I switched from Lowrance to Humminbird because of price and also Humminbird uses one transducer than the two that Lowance requires (for side scan)

Re: Virgin Fly Tyer-
Hello, I am a virgin newbee when it come to fly tying, I just started learning this week. I am mostly interested in tying jigs and trolling flies for walleye and smallmouth bass. I need to know what size chenille would be a good size for my application? I have watched a lot of you tube videos on ty...

I never looked for structure in that location as I usually blow past heading to a different area of the lake.

Re: Sammamish River
When I was a kid, back in the '50's, they use to have hydro races in the slough. I forgot about those. I made the mistake of putting a small boat in at the Kenmore launch twice while the boat races were going on. I headed back to shore and picked a different day. I think they quit those in the late...

I'm one of the few that fished for cutts, salmon, steelhead and other trout in the Sammamish, in addition to duck hunting there. It was a few years ago. Duck hunting was eliminated first.

Re: Your favorite sinking fly line?
I was thinking of more like an 8' (or as appropriate) piece of sink tip as the depths I'd be after would be the 10-20 feet deep waters. I think that's what you would have wanted also.

Re: Your favorite sinking fly line?
It depends in where you fish. I have a regular sinker that's good in shallow-ish lakes (normal depths) and I have a real fast sink that gets down fairly fast. The real fast sink would be dragging in the weeds in a normal depth lake and the regular sinker would take a long time in a deep lake. I'd fi...

Re: Wild Walleye Worms
Interesting that these worms can handle our heat with no problems. I read the "worm care" section and it appears these nightcrawlers are compost eaters rather than eating dirt (minerals) like the canadian night crawler. Should make the Louisiana nightcrawlers way easier to keep.

I'm not an expert but you may be low on fluid. Here's a you tube video that might give more tips. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=woVT4czk6ao" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; "It had fluid but won't raise or lower." Meaning it isn't low on fluid. I also use Mercury fluid. I was lookin...
