RE:Puyallup River Hints, tricks, and just plane old old help for all of us to share.

FF, I know plenty of guys that use Trout Poles and reels. What you want to do is re-spool the reel with a braided line. The diameter of braided line vs mono (equal breaking strength) is smaller. What that means is that, if you re-spool with 10lb braided, it's like putting on 6lb mono on the reel. Br...

RE:Can you eat SQUAWFISH??

I've taken them out of rivers and cooked them up. They do taste like catfish. Filleting and skinning them is just like a trout except that these squaws have allot of very thin bones.

Rollin, just try them once because everyones pallets are different.

Sounds like you want to harvest them........If you fish for them in the salt (Puget Sound waters including estuaries), they are C-n-R only year round with barbles hooks only.

Also before you walk down to the gravel beds make sure you pull the ticket in the bushes so you know when it's your turn to join the line with the other guys.:clown:

Nice flounder, big sanddab.

Starry flounders look like they have barnicals all over them very pronounced coloring of black and white stripes on their dorsal fins and have a very triangle tail.

Johnson, lake fishing has been pretty slow. Long Lake in Lacey, Steilicolm Lake in lakewood have been fairly ok when targeting LMBass. This time of year the majority of people are targeting the rivers and out in the Puget for salmon.

RE:Cutthroat Autopsy

When I gut the thing, I found a 4" power grub. So that swollen tumor was just the trout trying to pass it. Since the grub was in good condition (After cleaning it, it looked like it was just removed from a fresh package) no signs of it even having a hook through it.....it's really hard to speculate...

RE:Cutthroat Autopsy

This is a pretty interesting thread. My assumption on this is that the trout picked it up and consumed it not to long ago. The lizard was a product of a snag and resulted in a knot failure on the main line. I say this because there is no trace of a knot on the swivel on the main line side. Also with...

If your going to hit it with a fly pole....6wt-8wt with a type II or III sink tip and a 4'-5' leader. Fly of choice would be a nice fat streamer. Pink or blue color The Puke is known for Corky-n-Yarn gear. Get a slinky weight or use lead coil weights..about 1/2oz-3/4oz weight(enough to tick the bott...

Congratulations Phil to you and your new bride. Hopefully you were smart enough to have signed a contract or pre-nup prior to your bride bonking you on the head. Or the least agreed that she will never ever ever EVER EVER ever get in the way of fishing and being with your buddies on the water......d...

I was thinking of doing something similar to my ODC Sport 8'. So how much extra weight did you add to it? Is that Aluminum Plating your using? Would you mind sharing the thickness? Also and never crossed my mind...placing the trolling motor mount up front...did you reverse the head of the trolling m...

I use to have this casio digital watch that had a feature like that. :-$ Just like Sunshine stated why handicap your self. To gain knowledge you need to just go out there and wet a line. If it's a tool that you might think will accurately put you on fish......save time wasted searching for them........

Jens, there are plenty of opportunities to catch larger salmon species with out wading. Bankers catch just as many fish as do guys wading hip deep. It's all about hitting the right run (run=lane fish navigate). Look at it more of a challenge but don't get discouraged because your under gunned. Belie...

I think you meant to say Dolmades. Still you make my mouth water. Oh the memories of this little thin gorgeous Greek gal I use to date back in the early 80's. She would cook up so much it was more of an entree. How I can remember the smell of a big pot of those cooking up. Stuffed with veal or lamb ...

The FF guys that tie them and fish those sizes use 0wt-2wt rods. Similar to 1lb-2lb mono stick.

1. (Will you get into trouble with out a PFD 100ft of shore?) Even though you think your a good swimmer, I would redirect that question back at you. 100ft doesn't seem that far and all but take into account the tide/water temp/clothing your wearing. Why take a chance? 2. (Lic. Info.) I hope your blo...

RE:6ft trout pole and 6 pound test.....

If a trout pole is all you have, I would at the least re-line the reel with 10lb-15lb braided line. That way your not sacrificing line footage on the small reel. Learn how to finger drag your spool when the fish runs. Use a mono leader just in case the salmon is to big of a brute so you don't loose ...
