Re: Skok-chat
since my spinning reel doesnt hold like any 20 lb test, i put 20 lb braid on since the diameter is so small, is that stupid to drift fish with braid at the skok? Nope, and one of the reasons it was designed too. The kids at the Skok will give you crap for using it. But like I told them last weekend...

Re: Cowlitz?
Nice guys! Lots of good information kicking around on this thread! Just what I wanted to hear! Keep it up! Yeah Nate, it's sad too.....the sky is the #1 steely river left in the sound too. The Puget sound systems are dead for steel, and cant even be compared to the Columbia systems, unfortantly. Not...

Re: Is Sprague Lake a bust for Bass and Panfish???
Enough walleye fisheries in the state? Did I read that correctly? I think I did.....but the numbers just don't add up to me :-s Out of the 3,000 some lakes we have in this state we have a list of 6 walleye fisheries? I have to drive some 180 miles to even think of touching a walleye.....I'll bet tha...

Nice man! Thank you for the advice. Any baits doing better than others? Fall kings already to the Cow huh? I like it! Any springers left worth keeping?

Re: skykomish kings
From what I have heard, is we need rain before the king fishery gets up and going. There was some 3,000 kings up there as of 2 weeks ago though, even more now. If you know the river, kings are being caught as well as steel. It sounds like you REALLY gotta know the sky to punch any fish as of now. An...

ohonestly skok da easyest place to catck kings in 80 mile radius from tacoma . i guess thats why its da favorite river now among a certain crowd =D> skok kings dont taste nearly as good as a chromer springer/summer steel from cowlitz not even close. but it is a fun place if yo dont mind smagging Am...

Cowlitz?
Hey all, was wondering how the Cowlitz is doing. I plan on fishing it this weekend, IF it would be worth it. I am at work and don't have my regs with me, but is it open at night right now? I can fish springers at Barrier or steel at Blue Creek. But would rather fish for steel. I am not asking for an...

20/20? You'd save lots of 1oz cannon balls and spend more time in the water if you went with a lighter # leader material than your main line.

Re: main line suggestions
I wouldn't even bother with fluro. Especialy on the puke. It's much more expensive and burns way too easy. I will use fluro in some conditions, but the knot strength isn't there. If you are going to use fluro, step it up a couple pounds. The fish can't see it anyway. Stren fluroclear makes decent fl...

Re: main line suggestions
yeah and if you get it snagged up, it leaves and long trail after you break off and really messes up drifts for others when there is a 30ft piece of braid line in the river IMO. your call not mine. YES! And I hate when people do that. What people often forget is you are only as strong as your weake...

Re: main line suggestions
Yeah man, absolutely. It's nice when two experienced anglers can have a civil debate on a thread while still staying on topic. On so many sites people will get so uptight and think its "my way or nothing". I don't really care, if I am doing all the right things and some jerk casts over my line and t...

Re: main line suggestions
If you have mono and you get crossed up with someone that has braided it will tear into your line. Sorry man, but that's the price your going to have to pay if you are in a combat zone and can't cast in sync with the rest of the meat line. And when fishing braid it allows you to get your fish in so...

Re: main line suggestions
A lot of people will say braid is a bad for drift fishing. And it does get wrapped around the tip of your rod and can be a pain sometimes. But I switched to braid on my casting set ups for salmon and am not going back. I prefer 30# power pro in moss green color. Kinda pricey, but if taken care of p...
