Re: Public rights on rivers in EVERY state

gfakkema - Upon further research I have found that yes, the Samish was used for purposes of commerce, way upstream from the areas we're talking about. I'm going to get more, but this supreme court case from 1904 directly references using the river to float logs for timber, the state has achieved st...

Re: Public rights on rivers in EVERY state

That's interesting, and unfortunate in that the ruling is contrary to a boatload of precedent that says otherwise. I'm pretty certain that it's under appeal, I'm looking into it. From what I can gather at the moment, it applies to Lousianna, not nationwide, but certainly has the ability to be exten...

Re: Public rights on rivers in EVERY state

My friends, if I may say that, I will have to bow out of this conversation for now as I am going to seek legal advice before I comment further.I have heard this argument over and over. I am not a real estate attorney and this is way over my head. I do know how I feel about this but my feelings are n...

Re: Public rights on rivers in EVERY state

Both missing the point. This is not about walking the bank, it's about drifting the river. I believe most acknowledge the land owners rights. It everyone's right to the water being discussed, not the banks. Not sure if you were responding to me Bodo, I don't think I missed the point, it is also abo...

Re: Public rights on rivers in EVERY state

After doing some looking I found a couple interesting things including this article that supports the navigability law....... http://www.fishjournal.org/fishing_access.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; However.... as I said before, do your home work and always know where you are. I...

Re: Public rights on rivers in EVERY state

On the other side of the coin.... Unfortunately there a lot of people that try to use the navigability argument to trespass where I live and they assume that a fishing pole gives them the right to trespass.. We have a "working easement" with pierce county to maintain the dykes on our property which ...

Re: bloody bait

Gutting a fish ensures you don't pop the sperm sacks or accidentally cut open the stomach and expose the bile. Most people gut their fish it's not rare. Less meat is wasted too. If your replying to me, I am guessing you didn't catch the sarcasm in my post, but I actually find my way is faster and e...

Re: Carbon River on the 1st

Thanks for the info. I ended up fishing near the 128th st bridge. Be aware guys that one of the neighbors told me a guy on a bicycle has broken into a number of cars there. As for the fishing I stayed down low to avoid the crowds but got skunked. Any info on how much they are charging for a parking...

Re: bloody bait

I have never bleed a fish or even heard of doing it until a couple years ago on this site. I gut a female, rinse the eggs a little, then cure them. I would bet that over the years I have caught as many or more Steelhead and Salmon as any body on this site(and this is the best fishing web site I hav...

Re: Carbon River on the 1st

If you have not been since 2004 or 05 be aware that Orting has decided to make some money off of us. Virtually all parking that accesses the river requires an Orting parking pass. The signs tell you where to get the pass. The sporting goods store in town use to be one place. Good luck. Thanks for t...

Re: bloody bait

I hate to rinse eggs or fillets , but if they are that bloody I would give them a quick rinse and then pat dry them right away... I always bleed my fish, I think it is better for you if you do and makes cleaning the fish easier/cleaner all around!

Re: Fishing the Puyallup

As others have mentioned, the river clears up when the temps drop and the glacier freezes again. The silt is from glacial run off in the warmer months. Will try to find the website where I saw the comment about the bottom layer of water being more clear. I'll have to just stick my waterproof camera...

Re: soccer fields and fruitstand help?

I have been down there twice this week and there has only been about 40 people there, coincidentally the fishing is slow too, 1 fish both days for me, but I spent about three hours each time....... it is perfect time to get in there and practice before it gets crazy. seems like we have had this disc...

I can't help but ask..what jurisdiction do they follow. do they get permission to enter private property or do think they can trespass to"enforce rules"? Something tells me that they are not going to attempt to police and enforce rules on public or state owned land only? Secret Meetings? Renegade Ha...

Re: Skokomish

This just in. A buddy of mine showed up at my work. He fished the skok this morning. He witnessed a little angler on angler enforcement. Apparently there is a group called HOG, harvest oriented anglers. My buddy talked to a couple members. They are underground but collect dues, meet, and have a new...
