Re: Fish Bonking

I cut the gills, and then give a quick stab through the skull. I used to bonk fish, and it was never really effective for me. This is what I do now, too. Used to bonk, but watched a video on the through the brain technique. I forget the Japanese term for it. The Japanese technique is called "Iki-ji...

Re: The Humpie Chronicles- Targeting Early Season Pinks

If your going to fish a Dick-Nite spoon work it SLOW! A nice slow wobble is what you want. Pretty much just drift fishing with a super slow retrieve. Or you can plunk it. Plunking sand shrimp behind pretty much any spin glo is a good bet as well. Pretty much, no wobble no fish. Spinning spoons are ...

Re: casting vs spinning

Im just a kid but, I prefer casting. I use the same casting for everything except bluegills and perch and pike minnow, .etc. Ive caught a 17 pound king, 4 pound 7oz triploid rainbow, 3 lb smallie, 4 humpies so far all on a 8'6" Shimano Clarus and Shimano Caenan with 10 lb Maxima Ultragreen. The king...

You should really learn to respect ALL wildlife, no matter how, lowly or ugly. Id eat any dark salmon, ive had dark humpy, tasted better than carp, and carp isn't that bad. O:)

Try the Jetty at Cape Disappointment State Park. There are a lot of crabs there, so you might want to bring your crab gear.

Why fish a lake? Fish the salmon run in the Snohomish, Skykomish, Stillaguamish, and Marine Area 8-1, the fish are going to be a lot bigger and way more plentiful.

Get about 3 or 4 cloves of minced garlic, a little bit of minced ginger, 6 or 7 tablespoons of brown sugar, and enough soy sauce to wet the sugar. Oh, and add a little lemon juice. Put fillet on foil, add all of that sauce on top, and let it sit in the fridge for an hour or two. Then put it on the ...

Early Humpies?

I have a question, is it normal for humpies to be caught this early? I remember last season I didn't catch my first humpy of the season until Aug 23. Humpies already in the Skagit? Could this be the sign of a massive return?
