RE:Cabezon area 11 or 10?

Never been a fan of these fish, and quad , you're spot on man, bottom fishing in the Sound is very, very tough as the resource is pretty darn depleted (remember that guy that took all those bottom fish illegal out of Shilsole this year?) Thanks goodness for the WDFW. Anyways, Alki Reef holds some ca...

RE:any favorite 08 Olympic moment?

Gosh...for me it's probably the US Olympic Womens Soccer Team. I love them! My cousin is married to one of their players, Stephanie Lopez; she's so sweet and her husband (my cousin) is a cool dude. Soccer is a fun sport, and the US Womens team is quite amazing!

RE:Lost/Stolen Crab Pots!!

Sorry to hear about that sunshine . We lost, I believe, four pots in Winter Harbour last year to the Canadians as we left and went to fish the outside waters. Came back and got the number of the boat, but they were off and runnin with our 4 pots, crabs, ropes, floats; and as racfish alluded, no need...

RE:Hallie opening Aug 22-23, Ilwaco!

Here is an infuriating little tidbit. We have to abort the hallie trip. WDFW in their infinite wisdom allocated a certain number of catchable fish. The Gillnetters caught 2900 EXTRA fish this year, so they are reducing catchable fish for the anglers. We can't take time fishin for hallies if they ar...

RE:What did you do over your summer? (besides fish)

My biggest success / accomplishment this year and summer has been my weight loss. I am 6' 3" and in December of last year I weighed 403 pounds. But in December I realized once and for all that I was tired of being this huge guy. As of today I weigh 321 pounds which is 82 pounds lost. I feel amazing...

RE:Lake Sammamish Salmon - are you fishing it yet?

Uncle did well last year with bare hooks or wiggle-warts/plugs off the bottom. I believe he also used some Kiwifish (sp?) and did well scoring 4 last year about the size in the photo. It should be good this year. I drove by the lake today on the way to Creekside and I'd say, oh, about 8 boats out th...

Im spooled with 500 feet or so, that gonna hack? E Man-up with about 500 yards of 50 pound power pro (what I use) or something along those lines. I picked up a real nice halibut reel last month from Cabelas which I use now. You'll be fishing in that 500'-650' range so you'll want a good amount of l...

Good advice. Hope it's not too foggy for the follow :-$ And yes, very deep water for sure...bring your strong arms.

RE:Hallie opening Aug 22-23, Ilwaco!

I didn't see any sandy/gravel humps out there, so Im guessing they are more along a certain depth line? You won't be fishing gravel humps per say, it's mostly a deep water fishery out there (500ft and deeper). Here is a good link which shows just about every area worth a gander. It's generic, but t...

Fish the most southwestern edge of the C-Spot (closure) out of Illwaco. Big hali and good times. Good charting is great; you'll see the boats out there by the C Spot; can't really miss it (unless it's really foggy). Have a blast and be safe.

RE:OUCH! Fishhook to the Eye Video - not for the squimish!

Always wear glasses (polarized are great) when fishing. Fish hooks and eyes do not go together...especially when flinging little bugs with sharp barbless hooks. I always wear my Smith Tortoise shades and all is well if I do end up taking one to the eye.

Got the call when I got home from work. The Tuna trip on the Ranger is cancelled due to bad weather. And I was so looking forward to riding 16' seas with 25 knot winds while trolling for Tuna. I sure do love Mom :^o Oh well. When we were with Jambo a couple days ago he knew he would probably not ma...

RE:Float Tube Fins

I got some from a sports shop. I think they were like 30 bucks. They have a slit down the middle and are super light and flexible. I also have a pair of caddis but prefer the dive ones Everyone's advice is really spot-on. Dive fins are superior; Force Fins aren't bad, but pretty pricey. A good dive...

RE:what kind of fishing pole do you have?

I'm with everybody else -- lots of fishing rods. My favorite would be my 3 Temple Fork finesse fly rods and my 2 lamiglass rods for salmon and steelhead fishing. G Loomis rods for my halibut and lings/bottom fish. I own a small spinning rod, but I haven't used that in years it seems.
