Re: Lake Washington perch in MARCH

Thanks for the info! Read the report. Thank you for a good one! Hope to get out this weekend... The last few weeks have been "winter cold", what with snow being a threat almost every day. The water was around 43.5 degrees, and I think they start to spawn at around 45 degrees, and the weather looks ...

Re: Lake Washington perch in MARCH

It's there now. :-) Every report has to be approved by the administration people. Only admin can approve them. Usually takes a couple hours to approve one as Mike or Aaron are notified that there is a report, then they have to have time from their work to get to it. If they are out fishing for the ...

Re: Lake Washington perch in MARCH

Report posted. Thanks for the feedback. Highly under-utilized lake. Did I see more SEAPLANES landing than fellow fishermen? ....well it was close.

Re: Bluegill haven

Leader Lake, during the full-moon, around June, has about the best/biggest bluegill fishing I've seen.

Re: Lake Washington perch in MARCH

Getting back to the questions in the OP:
But what about MARCH? No real perch action mentioned looking at all the March reports, so what's the deal? How does it compare to January/February (great fishing then)? Most importantly: what areas and depths!?

Thanks!

Re: Lake Washington perch in MARCH

When looking at the data regarding water temps, be sure to check the scale so you know how much of a change you have. Sometimes it will appear as though there is a solid thermocline, but in reality it is just showing a slight change in temperature. 0.3 degrees isn't going to cause the fish to move ...

Im shocked to see 44.4 on top and 43.3 at the bottom, only 1 degree F difference top to bottom! in 180 fow!
Fahrenheit temperatures....I don't see that - can you tell me where exactly you see that?

Re: Lake Washington perch in MARCH

I appreciate that quick feedback. Yesterday the water temps were not stratified (well, only a 0.3 degree difference between 60' and 90' depths) - so you are thinking that that changes as the waters warm around March? Would they be less concentrated near the bottom, so that would mean they are more d...

Lake Washington perch in MARCH

August through October in shallower water, and even November through January/February (they are concentrated, DEEP!), can be great for Lake Washington perch. January/February 70' deep, north of the Seahawks practice field is a starting point. A hundred per boat sometimes. Summer: 17' deep on outer e...

Re: Crappie Fishing - Snohomish Co.

A guy at Lake Washington ramp told me yesterday "this lake has some huge crappie in it" - I wasn't even talking about crappie, and he brought it up. I think Lake Union has big crappie at times too. I don't bother until May, however, for crappie.

Re: Bluegill haven

If you can get away for a few days then Potholes has some "monster-sized" bluegill (+ bass, perch, etc.!) When you locate the hard-to-locate schools in September it can be a fish per cast. Swofford Pond might be better for numbers of bluegill, however. Kids like numbers of fish.

Re: Winter walleye

Too many OTHER species to catch in the winter for me to bother with tasty walleye. Fall is awesome, however. Tasty little buggers. March can be ok near the Tri-cities on the Columbia River, for huge walleye. August on Banks Lake, and September on Potholes (last year was not great, though) might be y...

Re: Bass Fishing Lake Washington

In February, from what I understand, about 40' deep is the key depth for the smallmouth on Lake Washington. Fished for perch this month and 69 feet of water was the ticket, about 0.5 miles north of the Seahawks practice field. Perch meat doesn't work nearly as well for me as do about a 1.5" segment ...

For pink it's an F15 (small, bubble-gum colored) squid behind a white flasher or dodger, maybe 18" or so.

Re: We catch 4 times as many Pinks in RIVERS (vs. salt water

Sure, IMO one of the key words there is "concentrated". Take 100 goldfish, a butterfly net and 5 minutes. How many would you be able to net if they were in a full sized swimming pool compared to the same number/time in a bathtub. So true. BTW, 10 minutes ago I just coincidentally was watching the S...

Re: Snohomish or Skagit for Sturgeon

The best fishing in the Northwest for sturgeon is: 1. Willamette River in October and November, but especially February through March. 2. Astoria May 25 through July 5. 3. Bonneville Pool January 5 - February 20. 4. Fraser River during Eulachon run around early May, or during the fall salmon run, fr...
