Re: Wild Steelhead at Safeway

I asked. The meat cutter told me it was wild. Which could also mean hatchery but caught in the ocean or river. I think it should be illegal to sell farm raised fish as wild.

Wild Steelhead at Safeway

Am I the first one to see this? What the heck! "Responsible choice" I find it hard to believe that these are all hatchery fish. Somebody somewhere is lying to me! [cursing] Boycott????

Re: looking for eggs

Workers at Wallace were cleaning the dead fish out of the holding tank today. I asked them for the eggs. I was told that,"they can't give them to me. Everything must go to the 'Mort pit'. It's a state resource." WTH!?

Re: Just as i expected!

This Monday morning quarterbackin is silly. First you have to ask yourself, how do you want our fisheries managed? Do you want to keep escapement at minimal levels risking falling short. Or do you want a conservative approach, fishing only excess hatchery fish knowing absolutely that escapement goal...

Re: Baker River

Salmon are a subcategory of food fish. Trout and landlocked salmon are a subcategory of game fish.

It's about time. WFC needs to focus on stream restoration and not our hatcheries.

cowlitz steelhead

I need to feel a tug, and can't wait until June. So I will be heading down to the Cowlitz this weekend. I will be fishing from the bank and not exactly sure where to start. Should I start at "the wall" or Blue Creek? Also, would you advise people to sleep in their car at the parking lot? With a 3 fi...

Re: Bad news comes early--- coho declines again

I believe it's beneficial to sport anglers for the forecast to be conservative. The tribes get the first 50% of the allotted catch. If the run comes in larger than forecasted, emergency rules may increase angler opportunity.

Re: Low profile baitcasting reel

I preferror a higher gear ratio. Cyrano E7 is 7:1. Helps to keep tension in the line when the fish swims toward you.

Re: Puget sound steelhead

I too would like to catch bigger fish. Who wouldn't. But I fear more restrictions and shorter seasons if a wild brood is used. We currently enjoy a fish that returns much earlier than ESA listed steelhead. And still have shorter seasons than we did a few years ago. Some Puget Sound waters were shut ...

Re: Skykomish Reiter Ponds

Somebody please correct me if I'm wrong. Blown has to do with the amount of sediment and debris. As long as the Skykomish is on the drop, it should be fishable. The problem is access. When the water line is up to the bushes it gets tuff. I don't go when the gage reads over 10 feet. I don't like figh...

Guides on Baker Lake?

I would love to take my wife camping/fishing for sockeye on Baker Lake this summer. It's a beautiful lake, but I don't own a boat or downrigger poles. Does anybody have any guide recommendations? The campsites are filling up fast and I want to get it booked before it's too late. [-o<

line capacity on Corado 200 E7

Each time I get my reel respooled he can only fit about 100 yards of 12# Maxima. I always go to the same guy. I wonder if his line counter needs to be adjusted. According to Shimano, I should be able to get another 20+ yards on it. How much can you fit on your Corados?
