Thanks Guys. Been all about time on the water and having the confidence to only look for a bite or two a trip specifically targeting trophy caliber fish. Its crazy what you learn about big bass and their populations when you specifically target them.

Another 7 almost 8#er from yesterday. Topwater fish!

Whoever told you fish don't eat topwaters in august doesn't know what he is talking about. Conditions can play a big part of it but topwater fish can be caught from march basically into October depending on the lake and conditions.

Putting any sort of tournament on Beaver or Pine would make little to no sense honestly. Both lakes are under 100 acres and wouldn't be able to handle 10-15 boats. Havent been posting individual pics much this year so here is a collage of 5 largemouth over 7# taken this spring.

I would say a 7' mh rated rod with a fast tip. rated for 1/4-3/4 or 1oz and that will probably be the most versatile rod u can go with.

I would say its all dependent on the weather that year as well as the lakes. I know I have seen smallmouth spawning in mid april quite a few times and especially end of april and have seen largemouth around the same time period depending on the lake. Just make sure to look at moon phases as well.
