Re: Reel Parts? Anyone know where to get them?
I'm hoping to get into their shop this winter. Done a lot of business with Ollie's over the years but never been there lol. Then again, my idea of tourism is visiting interesting or small tackle shops.

Re: Well now here is an idea....
I think this is one of those, "be careful what you wish for," moments. I can easily see the State taking away fisheries and universally limiting seasons in an effort to quell the request for simplified regulations. I can see this happening too. I think it's the only real way to simplify the regs. T...

Re: Suitable Shore Fishing Rod?
You wouldn't get much distance with that reel. It wasn't designed to be casted. The rod itself would work if you got a baitcaster reel such as an Abu Garcia ambassador S 5500 or an Abu Garcia orra inshore (both are budget reels). The orra inshore can be found on eBay at a good price and is designed ...

Re: Tribal gil nets are in the water in MA 10
This ain't on unsworth, the deterioration of the fair negotiations has been going on for years. The first time the tribes demanded concessions or would use the feds to get fishery approvals and the state caved was the turning point. That was prior to unsworth, although he ain't exactly standing tall...

Re: Tribal gil nets are in the water in MA 10
Actually if there's enough political interest generated, the dept/state could institute open meetings and then prepare the legal defense for the following suit by the nwic. The sovereign government argument to hide the talks by the tribes shouldn't hold water in court, especially since they're taske...

Re: Tribal gil nets are in the water in MA 10
Sadly Larry's right. That's big reason why the current co-management model is failing. The tribes have the ability to slow or shut down our seasons with claims of treaty rights or threats of lawsuits. If the dept tries that (even for an in season run size adjustment) they get blown off. Really only ...

I don't see why it won't. My grandpa used to use dental floss for emergency guide repair while out in the boat. Not sure about long term durability though.

I've fished a couple. Up until the kiddo came along I used to fish a fair amount on the dry side lakes.

Looking for a Fenwick hmx
I'm trying to find an 8'6" Fenwick hmx spinning rod that's got the black blank with silver guide wraps and is rated something like 6-15 or 8-15 lb line. I broke mine a couple seasons ago and never really found a replacement I liked as much. If anybody's got one laying around they ain't using then s...

Re: WDFW killing 5 more lakes this fall.
I think it because planter trout is the only fishery the dept has shown any aptitude for in recent years and it's steadily becoming their profit margin on license sales. I just wish they'd use common sense. If a lake isn't big enough for cool enough water for the trout to summer over in without high...

Where'd you find that at? That looks like it'd be an almost perfect sculpin imitation for big rainbows.

Saw this on another site, but I think it's the way our state should permit farmed Atlantics.

Re: WDFW killing 5 more lakes this fall.
These are fairly small lakes, especially rigley at 8.2 acres. Unless they're fairly deep so the rainbows can find cool water, I think this is a waste of money to rehab. Too many small lakes that aren't deep enough to prevent disease or die offs during the warm months are managed for trout fisheries ...

Re: Nooksack river fishin
I'm in the same boat. I've been salmon fishing up here for the last 5 years...convinced I'm cursed. Caught two silvers my first weekend back in 2012. That's literally been it...I've tried Cascade, Skagit, Nooksack, Samish...used all the usual techniques and I can't seem to win. That's what I went t...

Re: Tips for a newbie/visitor?
You're coming right at an off time this year. Usually Oct is coho time but their projected numbers are low, so we may or may not have a season for them. Mid October might give ya shot at few early chum but salmon fishing is gonna probably slow. If you shoot me a pm a week or so before you get here I...

Re: Snohomish river
Usually I tied rabbit up on my tiny jigs, but I usually have some marabou tied up in my box too.. I've used 2" pink or pink and white crappie tubes smothered in shrimp smelly jelly with success as well when they were a bit more "bitey". The hoochies small enough for those jigs cost more than materia...

Re: Snohomish river
I was on the sno & sky in several spots yesterday, saw lots of fish rolling. Unfortunately they seemed fairly stale and didn't see any hookups. I was twiching a marabou jig with no hits. I decided to switch up to a float and small jig (1/16 and 1/32 oz jigs under a float has always been the ticket f...

Re: Do used car lots have lower prices outside of Seattle?
It's not just Seattle. When the wife and I was car shopping (back in early June) we found lower prices by just looking outside king county. Not saying you can't find a killer deal in Seattle or king county but I'd bet your odds are better in Pierce or Snohomish, maybe even Skagit if you're willing t...

I'd say 10lb mono or 15lb braid if you're gonna be tossing jigs.
