Re: Facebook salmon conservation group
What anglers are losing at in the salmon fisheries debates is the public perception. Most assume we all hate the tribes on racial basis and that we're predominately beer drinking cavemen. In my opinion any group that devolves into cursing and such just hurts our arguments. The tribes have public per...

Re: To use or not to use: Nail Polish to touch up lures and hooks?
I pour my own jigheads and paint them with nail polish all the time. I use it to touch up buzzbomb and darts or give them a little bit different look. It's quick, easy, and cheap that's why I use it. Besides some of the places I'll toss a jig, it'll be long lost before the nail polish chips off :-" ...

Re: Is it legal to use a crab snare on one pole and fish with another pole at the same time.
I called the dept on this matter before. The answer I got was it was legal to use up 2 rods with castables crab snares as your crab gear units and still use another rod to target fin fish(thier term for fish). While i never used 2 rod snares at once, I've had several encounters with wardens while us...

Re: Buy Barbed or Barbless for salmon
I haven't seen a warden get too picky about crimped barbs. The worst I've seen so far is the warden telling the guy to crimp it down a bit more. I'm sure there might be one out there that's real picky and I've heard the rumors of the piece of panty hose / cotton ball test but I haven't seen it. Pret...

Re: New APP from WDFW - looking for beta testors
Looking up emergency rules has become part of o'dark thirty ritual and since I refuse to buy a smart phone, the app just wasn't useful enough to keep on my tablet

I've never seen anybody trying for them out there, but I'd assume around logs or vegetation would produce like other places I've dropped pots

Re: New APP from WDFW - looking for beta testors
It's not bad but for a lot of my fishing I use escapement and flow reports to help decide where I'm going and I couldn't find a way to access them in app. Consequently I ended up uninstalling

I can't speak for that rig, but I will say over the years I've tried a lot different things in the sound that wasnt following the tried and true. Some worked ok, some were duds, but a couple made their way into my regular rotation. So my suggestion is give it a whirl and see what it does for you.

Thanks quad that sounds perfect for him. I'll give them a call tomorrow morning to see if there's an opening for harley. My concern was having the lil guy stuck in a cage the 6 days were gone.
You're about spot on with my location too. I'm in snohomish county not far from the Skagit line

kennel advice
So we're going vacation at the end of the month and we had arranged for our dog Harley to stay with the wife's cousin while we were gone. Well she backed out on us yesterday and now it's too late to change our room to a pet friendly one so we need to put Harley in a kennel while we're gone. I have n...

Pretty sure that'd fall in the department's derby rules. By the way the law is writren you can't even bet a buck on big fish for the day with a couple buddies without a permit.

Just keep in mind how many river seasons actually shape up like the reg book originally shows. That said I'm really hoping for a Skagit or cascade silver season since it's the closest fishery to me lol

Re: Mosquito repellent
We started using repel lemon eucalyptus when the kiddo was born cause the doc recommended we avoid using deet on her til she was older. Honestly it seems to work about as well as any other bug repellent I've used. With all of them it's more about reapplying before it wears off so even that Avon bath...

Re: Eagle Claw Featherlight Kokanee/Casting rods are here!
I've used mine a lot but not on jokes. The 8ft handles chums well and is a blast. Also put in the salt flounder fishing, took out for channels and bullhead cats, and I use it dragging pop gear for trout. I need to pick up another because these are really versatile rods that can handle my kind of abu...

so i finally ran outta the spool of maxima perfection 2lb i bought a couple years ago. figured it'd fairly easy to find either another spool of it or a similar clear mono in a 1/4 or 1lb spool. oh boy was i wrong, seems like every brand of light line i trust doesn't do bigger than a 300yd spool thes...

Re: Good Lake with Playground Nearby in Western WA?
In snohomish county, Martha lake (am) has a playground it's not line of sight though but it's close to the dock. Martha (wb) has a park with a playground and fishing dock. Silver lake in Everett has a toy and dock. Tye in monroe has a nice park. Also blackmans has a toy in line of sight of the dock....

Re: 2018 salmon seasons for Puget Sound are out
i'll wait til it's closer to game time on the area i fish to really judge how the seasons are. the dept likes to manage with emergency openers and closings so much that it's hard to really see the seasons from this early on imo
