My Grandma gave me an old Olympic 2080m Mooching Rod, 8', 2 pieces. Does anyone know what line this rod can handle? Would I be able to use it for saltwater pier fishing? Any info would be great!

Well... cause I'm stubborn... I went fishing today. Before heading out to the lake, I got a bunch of 6-8" worms with some of the offset hooks. I have a small inflatable boat. No trolling motor... just a couple of oars. I have an improvised anchor too... a 10lb weight on some rope. Should I try fishing the middle of the lake? I've read that bass tend to go deeper when it starts getting to the end of summer into autumn.
