RE:Topwater
I was fishing yesterday morning throwing a frog into thin pads and this massive wake literally lifted the frog a good 3 inches. It looked like a submarine pulled in under it and hit the brakes. I tossed in a few more times and finally hooked her but she shook the hook. She was probably close to 6 p...

I like to do my Mexico vacations in the fall, usually November. to extend my summer. Sometimes we'll go Jan or feb if we get a severe case of cabin fever.

RE:Bye Bye Favre
Smart move for Green Bay. Time to start building a team for the future without the distraction of a quarterback controversy. I doubt that Favre will enjoy the success with the Jets as he had with the Packers. New play packages, different receivers, weak offensive line. It will be his last year. I fo...

In Kansas, my uncle and I would catch sand toads on river beaches and use them on the trot lines for channel cats.

RE:Fishing and Hunting News is done
I do wish someone would start an Oregonlakes.com page, tho' This site could make sister sites for oregon as well ad Idaho. Use same layout. Living here in Spokane, WA. I'm close to lots of Idaho lakes with 1 hr drive away. If I knew on what to fish and where do fish, I would fish there as well. I h...

RE:Length versus Weight...
I prefer to use a digital scale, however, if you only have a measuring tape, take the measurement in inches and cube it and divide by 1800. It's pretty close.
For example, and 19" bass. 19 X 19 X 19 = 6859 : 6859 divided by 1800 = 3.81 pounds
It's not 100%, but it works for me.

RE:Topwater
Fish your topwaters under lowlight times like early morning or sunset, or on heavy overcast days. As for weedless frogs, fish them over thick weed canopies. Bass under lilies feel secure and are often hiding to ambush prey. However, if there are alot carp slashing about under the pads, the bass will...

RE:watch out for rattlers!
Wow!!! Nice picture. I rarely see rattlesnakes up here. I occassionally see one when gold mining in the Illinois Valley in Southern Oregon. Fortunately their venom is not as deadly as in southern areas. Still gives you goosebumps and makes you walk on edge. Years ago, in Tennessee, we saw a ball of ...

RE:Smallmouth by the Portland Airport
If you are in a boat fishing the Columbia, a valid license from either state is allowed. However, if you launch your boat from the Washington side, you must have a Washington license. Same with Oregon. To shore fish the Columbia, you need a license from whichever state you are fishing from. Oregon s...

My wife usually drops me and my fishing partner at the county park and drives the truck downstream to the takeout spot where her car is parked. Then we drift all day and avoid Hannah's high rates and do just as good as with a guide.

RE:Kress lake Cowlitz Co.
Kress lake is a great fishery for kids! The best places for trout and panfishing are right near the parking lot. There are a ton of brown trout that you can see cruising near the weeds and for the most part are pretty easy pickings for a youngster and their first pole.

By far, Lacamas is the lake with the best bass fishery in Clark County. Though the sloughs around Ridgefield are pretty good, too.
