Re: What fish finder and electric motor

I had a 1990 15ft Smokercraft Alaskan with 25hp Mercury, I put a 36lb Minn kota bow mount powerdrive on it. It had a wired foot control I could run from the back. The electric was for lakes and did fine so if you get a 55lb it would do great. I would not run the elect in the salt. Even salt water se...

Re: Burbot Fishing

I got one last year in May, we were north and west of the island in Lind Coulee. We were fishing for walleye with a slow death and crawler, got out deep (I think 50') making a turn. The next day a woman fishing the same area ask if I knew what kind of fish she had, and it was a burbot. So I would sa...

Re: Rope+regulation+buoy questions

I cut a sort of diamond shape out 3 x 5 and tied it back in with 4 pieces of cotton cord the size it states in the regs. I don't know that size off the top of my head.

Re: New WDFW warden TV show

I am going to guess that Pacific County is more lax than King County. King County seems to be the strictest county in the state on a lot of things. That does bring up a problem. When hunting you need to know state game law, other state laws, county and city laws. You also have to deal with the knowl...

Re: New WDFW warden TV show

On page 80 under prohibited hunting methods. "7 Negligently discharging a firearm from, across, or along the maintained portion of any public highway, regardless of surface, or from within a moving vehicle " The word "along" could make it a violation. But I know people that have shot from just off t...

Re: New WDFW warden TV show

During elk season this year i heard they were filming some around Pacific county. I guess some hunter shot an elk from a nearby bridge (Niawakum river bridge) right off hwy 101! I guess they determined it to be a legal shot!? how could that be legal? .... Hopefully it makes the show for a...

Re: Lowrance Elite 7 HDI problem

I just got an Elite 7 HDI. I have been out one time and had a problem with the depth reading and fixed it with the settings. I still have a lot to learn. I have had a major pain with the Insight Genesis mapping, because I have a Mac, and they are not download compatable with Mac. The point of that i...

Re: How to get a Cougar?

I don't think a cougar should be hunted out of fear of the cougar in this case. I don't think there is a reason to fear, they are all around in the woods of WA. I also don't think we should slam each other for methods of hunting (or fishing) that are legal. Or for hunting at all. If this helps, call...

I have had the game officer not care that I called or who I talked to. "I am the law here" is what I was told. That said, I would write an email and keep a copy of the reply.

Re: 2014 Puget Sound Coho run

Sekiu was slow this week with most fish that did come in being small. 5 lb or less. I got a 12 lb on thursday am and the fish checker said it was the big one for the week. Maybe it is starting now. It was looking like rain was coming when we left.

Re: Potholes Res Crawfish

I have hit Potholes for craws in the spring after it opened and not got any. I tried Crab creek, the face of the dam, and Lynn Coulee. Other people have said they did well in those areas. I may have been at the wrong time of year. I have found them in other lakes in 2 to 30 ft, rocky and mud bottom ...

West of Slip Point (the point on the east side of Clallam Bay) The first 3 Black OR Blue rock fish. No other rock fish are legal, I got that from WDFW when I ask if other rock fish were open and part of the 15 bottom fish East of Slip Point one Black or Blue rock fish. Remember barbless hooks even f...

Re: Boiling Crabs

I clean first, it is easier to clean the gut from the meat before cooking. Also you can get more in the pot. 15 minutes at a rolling boil in salted water, then cool to stop cooking and make meat separate from shell. Or eat hot right then. I have tried adding other spices but I don't think it did muc...

Re: Crab Bouy Question.

The number I called is listed on page 126 of the regs. Under "Know the Rules". I have had bad luck with calling a random person at a local office. I keep a PDF copy of the regs on my computer and a paper copy around. The officer on the scene would make the call, but like I said that was not somethin...

Re: Crab Bouy Question.

I just got off the phone with WDFW Fishing customer service desk(360-902-2700)
He said if the person in my boat has a license he can take the crab from my pot. He said "if you pull up 10 legal crab we do not expect you to throw them back". Given that you have two licensed anglers in the boat.
