King County’s Fish lake is located about 1 ½ miles S.W. from Cumberland. It covers about 16 ½ surface acres, reaches depths of about 22 feet and lies at an elevation of 720 feet. The water level varies considerably from spring through fall. Fish species include rainbow and cutthroat trout and largemouth bass. I have fished it a couple times, quite successfully for the bass. Prime bass habitat includes lots of flooded willows during the high water of spring and mostly aquatic weeds and a few old logs during the summer. Public access is provided by the Department of Fish and Wildlife. The small access area has limited parking space and a dirt-gravel launch area during the high water levels of spring. As the water level drops during the summer, boat launching can be almost impossible until the exposed, muddy lake bottom dries out. Bob Johansen
